Simon Currant

This Award honours and celebrates initiative, creativity and inspiration in developments and in voluntary contributions to organisations which have enhanced the economic wellbeing and lifestyle of the Tasmanian Community.

Particular examples are a pivotal leadership role as President of the Tourism Council of Tasmania, as a Board Member of Tourism Tasmania and the TT Line and in Hospitality Training, leading to structural improvement and substantial industry growth, and the entrepreneurial vision, sensitivity and success of developments such as Cradle Mountain Lodge, Franklin Manor, Strahan Village and Peppermint Bay, With discernment and appreciation of the surrounding environment and impact on the unique ecology, these developments have created beauty in a beautiful places.

This significant contribution has enhanced a positive atmosphere in the community, created employment, engendered confidence, and demonstrated a love of Tasmania coupled with an awareness of the heart and soul of Tasmania’s identity, Making Simon Currant a most worthy Tasmanian of the Year.
